PediTred Information

Why Install a PediTred?
PediTred Entrance Floor Mat
A properly implemented entrance matting system, which includes a Peditred G4 or Peditred LP G3, can reduce dirt from being tracked into a building having a rippling effect by reducing cleaning and maintenance costs.  Floor surfaces stay cleaner longer, without the need to mop, sweep and vacuum as often.  Less dirt entering your building also means that less dust and debris is being ground into floors, decreasing permanent flooring maintenance/refinishing schedules.

Weight Load Capacity?
The PediTred G4 is the strongest architectural grid available.  It will handle up to 1,000 pounds per wheel rolling load.
The PediTred LP G3 will handle up to 750 pounds per wheel rolling load, exceeding the Pedimat and PediGrid load capabilities.

How big of a PediTred do I need?

The entrance mat should cover the entire entrance to a building -- including any side entrances.  This is your first opportunity to stop dirt and moisture from being tracked into your building.  Length of matting should be the length that your entrance can handle -- many entryways don’t have recommend length so it is crucial to specify the most effective heavy-duty matting to cope with the denser traffic saturation of dirt and moisture.  It is also important to start the matting system at the threshold of the door -- do not leave a gap between the entrance and the matting.

What is the largest PediTred I can order?
The size of a PediTred is limited only by your needs and budget.  All PediTred entrance mats are custom made and can meet your specific needs.

Custom sizes and templates
All PediTreds are custom sized for your individual needs.  This customization ensures that you will have the correct size, type and color of insert, type of aluminum color, and style of frame that is the best combination for your facility. See our tutorial for step-by-step instructions on how to determine the best size PediTred for your facility, as well as instructions on how to order and complete a template.  A template is required when an entrymat is not made of right angles.   A template service is available; for a fee a service technician will come to your facility or job site and make your template ensuring a custom fit.

PediTred recessed and surface mounted frames
PediTreds can be installed indoors, outdoors, in recess wells or on a flat surface.  There are frames available for these different types of installation. For example, an existing recess area might need a tapered angle frame or a surface application mat might need a tapered vinyl border. Refer to the five different frame options shown below.

Insert Options
There are a variety of insert types and colors available for PediGrid aluminum grids.  There are 22 Heavy-Duty Carpet insert colors and four Exterior Brush insert tread colors.  Also available are Poured Abrasive inserts, Abrasive Tape inserts, and Rubber Tread inserts.  See the chart below for a complete selection of the different types and colors available.

Aluminum Finishes
The exposed rails on a PediTred, as well as the frames, are made of aluminum.  The stock finish is a standard mill aluminum finish (a shiny metal aluminum color).  There are other aluminum finishes and colors available including anodized and powder coat finishes.  You can coordinate not only the type and color of insert material but also the aluminum rails and frame to compliment your interior design. See the chart below for a chart displaying the color and finish options available.

Cleaning
What a PediTred does best is effectively scrape dirt and remove moisture from all types of footwear.  With PediTred Entrance Grids you can easily clean not only the aluminum mat and rails but also the recessed well area beneath the PediTred.  Maintenance staff can easily vacuum the surface of the grid daily and periodically remove the PediTred Grid to clean the recessed area of collected dirt and debris    When needed, your PediTred can be extracted or for a more thorough after-winter-cleaning your entryway grid can be removed and cleaned using a pressure washer.

Refurbishment
The sturdy aluminum rails in your PediTred will last many years.  Sometimes, however, the aluminum portion of your mat exceeds the life of the carpet insert strips or during remodeling, your vestibule and lobby areas might change colors.  Replacement carpet insert material is available allowing your maintenance staff to replace and renew the appearance and function of your investment.   For about half the cost of a new PediTred, you can revitalize your entryway.   Refer to our video for a step-by-step tutorial on how you can refurbish your existing entrance grid.

Ordering a new entrance grid
For new construction the rough opening size of the size (width x length) is needed to determine the size of the frame and grid.  To replace your existing PediTred measure your existing recess.  Measure the inside of the frame on the sides and center of both the length (red) and width (green) to determine if the recess is square.  Because PediTreds are manufactured in rigid sections, accurate measurements are important.  These dimensions are known as the "rough opening" which are then used to fabricate your replacement entrance grid.

Production and delivery times
All PediTreds are custom manufactured to meet your project's specific needs.   This allows you to select not only the size, but also the type and color of inserts, type and color of aluminum rails and frame, and type of installation and framing options.   Such customization options, fabrication and delivery generally require 3-4 weeks.  If you need your frame earlier, it can be shipped out separately before your grid is completed, at no additional charge. There is also a “rush” program available at an additional charge.
